Capturing True Expression

More than just a likeness, a portrait is a glimpse into character—honest, intimate, and unforced. I focus on capturing the quiet moments, the in-between expressions, and the depth that exists beyond the surface. Whether candid or composed, my portraits are about presence, mood, and authenticity.

I’m not used to being in front of a camera—what if I feel awkward?

You’re not alone—most people feel a little uncertain in front of the camera at first. That’s why my approach to portraits is candid, natural, and authentic—there’s no pressure to pose or perform. Instead, I focus on creating a relaxed environment where you can just be yourself.

I’ll gently guide you as needed, but the best portraits come from real moments—a subtle expression, a quiet pause, a natural movement. My goal is to capture who you are, not just what you look like.

What should I wear for my portrait session?

What you wear should feel authentic to you while complementing the mood and setting of the shoot. Here are a few tips to help you choose:

  • Keep it simple – Neutral tones, earthy colours, and timeless fabrics photograph beautifully. Avoid loud patterns or logos that may distract from the image.
  • Layer and texture – Subtle details like linen, wool, or denim can add depth and character to your look.
  • Consider the setting – If we’re shooting outdoors, opt for tones that complement the natural surroundings. If it’s an urban or indoor setting, a more structured or refined look may work well.
  • Stay comfortable – Choose something you feel confident in. If you’re uncomfortable in what you’re wearing, it will translate into the photos.

If you’re unsure, feel free to bring a couple of options, and we can decide together. For more insight into how I approach portraits, visit my Approach page, or reach out via my Contact page if you’d like personalised recommendations.

Can I use my portraits for professional or personal branding?

Yes! Portrait sessions can be tailored for both personal and professional use, whether you need images for a portfolio, social media, a website, or promotional materials.

If your portraits are for branding or commercial purposes, we’ll discuss the intended use beforehand to ensure the images align with your brand identity. For business use, a commercial license may be required, depending on the scope of the project.

If you’re unsure about licensing or need portraits for a specific purpose, send me a message via my Contact page, and we can find the right approach for you.
